Samsung Galaxy S5 versus Galaxy S4

You just bought Samsung Galaxy S5 for a decent amount of money, and asking yourself whether you made a good choice? I think you did.
I will list below my first impressions over S5 and why is it better than S4 model.

1. Camera
In 99% of time you get sharp images. Much better than on S4. Video is even more better. You might have experienced crackling sound on recorded videos on S4 - that's fixed on S5. Camera is the greatest improvement when you compare these two phones.

2. Look and feel
Phone looks fancier, and more solid. It is almost water proof. I am not planning on putting it into water, but it's nice to know that few rain drops can;t make any damage anymore. Closing lid at the bottom is not such a big problem. You get used to it very soon. As you know, you must remove the lid to charge the phone. It's not a big deal.

3. Speed
I don't see any speed improvment, although technically, benchmark results are way much better for S5 (doubled). I use octa version with 8 cpus. I think that Samsung improved the usage of all cpus simultaneously so the phone works better than in snapdragon version which is widely used in US.

4. Lags
Yes, There is a lag here and there. But there are two types of lags. One which is intentional and the other one which is probably a bug.

a) intentional lag is due to fact that Samsung uses multifuctional keys. If you press key longer it does one thing and if you just press it quickly, it does the other thing. Here, the phone must have a lag to decide which function user wants.

b) bug
Samsung does not preload images on application pages, contacts page and so on. Because of bad caching mechanism, there is a jitter happening when you scroll down some application pages (settings, contacts, and so on). This is happening inconsistently/randomly. Samsung needs to improve caching on this phone. And image pre-loading before anything. You will notice this when you look at the contacts - images assigned to contacts are loading too slow.this sometimes causes jitters.

5. removing bloatware and developer options tweaking is a must. In addition, I have also turned on increased sensitivity, limited background processes to 4, turned off s voice home button and similar things. Clearing cache actually slows down the phone.

6. Battery lasts longer

7. Screen is better, crispier, whiter. I use professional photo color mode as I also don't like over saturated colors.

8. call quality, wifi, wverythings works perfectly. I use finger print lock all the time. When you get use to it, it's a great feature.

... ask me anything about s5 in comments...
